September 8 is certainly a thrilling day for horror fans, who have been waiting eagerly for the second adaptation of Stephen King’s It. The highly-anticipated remake had its premiere in LA on September 5 and is scheduled to be shown in cinemas across the US and UK today. Coincidence or not (most probably not), the 2017 release comes 27 years after the 1990 mini-series, the first adaptation of King’s novel – just like the creature in the story returns to town every 27 years to feed on the townsfolk.
Since watching the movie might get you in the mood for a Stephen King marathon, we have created a timeline of other productions based on the author’s work to help you get started.
As there are probably more adaptations of the writer’s stories than one could see in a lifetime, the Stephen King Timeline illustrates only some of the more well-known feature films and TV series, whether critically acclaimed or not. Released in 2007, The Mist is considered as one of the most underrated King adaptations. Almost ignored after its initial release and criticized for bad acting and special effects, the movie has managed to gather a cult following over the years, mostly because of the strong drama, the constant tension throughout, and the petrifying ending.
